Romantic Marriage Proposals - Tips for Success

Romantic Marriage Proposal at SunsetAsking someone to be your partner for life is no small step and it should be treated like the special occasion it is meant to be.

Even if you’re not the type to get mushy or sentimental, even during such a time, you can still thrill your intended with a romantic marriage proposal that she’ll remember all her life. And you’ll be a star in her eyes!

How, when, and where you propose depends on a lot of different factors, but for most women, the more romantic the better.

If necessary, enlist the help of friends who can distract her when necessary (be sure they’re good at keeping secrets!) and, remember, the element of surprise is always a great way to make this moment memorable.

7 Ideas for Romantic Marriage Proposals

Here are some new thoughts as well as some tried-and-true ideas for the perfect romantic marriage proposal:-

Adventure Proposals

If she’s not afraid of heights, arrange an early morning or sunset excursion in a hot air balloon. Many companies offer a full meal service while on board so be sure to take advantage of that option and present the ring during the meal. Follow with a champagne toast to celebrate the occasion!

Even more daring? Take her bungee jumping and take the plunge before you take the plunge, so to speak! Or how about a helicopter ride over the city at night, when the lights are sparkling and the stars are in the sky?

Perfect!

Say it with Roses

Take her out to her favorite restaurant or cook a romantic homemade meal at home. Be sure to set the table with candles and other romantic elements including three roses in a vase.

When the time comes, ask her if she knows the story of the three roses. Explain that the first is for the past (you can reminisce about things you’ve done together), the second is for the present, and the third for the future. Remove the roses one at a time as you speak and be sure her ring is tied to the third or “future” rose.

Another rose method? Hide the ring inside one of a dozen roses and have her play “He loves me, he loves me not” until she finds it.

Place her name in lights!

If you don’t mind making your proposal a pubic event, consider letting the world know you’re going to marry your sweetheart. There are a few ways to do this. For example, take her to a movie and during the preview to the previews, when the theater is showing a variety of ads, arrange to have the words “Will you marry me (insert name)?” on the screen. (Just don’t let her go out for popcorn!) If you are both sports fans, a no-fail way of proposing is to arrange to present your proposal on the scoreboard. Be sure you know when it’s going to appear so that you’re in your seats when it happens!

Seasonal proposals

If you’re lucky enough to live near or be visiting a beach location when it’s time to propose, arrange to write your proposal in the sand.

This is probably best achieved when the beach isn’t too crowded, perhaps during a walk at dusk or dawn.

On the other hand, if you’re in a snowy climate, you can use a squeeze bottle full of colored water to write your message in the snow!

Massage and Marriage ?

Does your future wife enjoy a back rub or sensual massage?

If so, when you’re ready to pop the question, set the mood and offer to pamper her with a relaxing massage, which is especially welcome after a long day at work.

Be sure to massage each part of the body and end with her left hand, taking the opportunity to slip the ring on her finger at that time and ask that all-important question!

Observatory Wedding Proposal

Arrange for an evening trip to a local observatory, museum or stately home. (Many science museums and other similar facilities open their observatories to the general public at least a few times a week.)

When you get there, take turns looking at the stars and be sure to mention how they shine like diamonds. Then tell her what an important place she occupies in your universe, kind of like one of those stars in the sky.

When she finishes star-gazing, let her do a little more gazing at her shiny engagement ring. If you can tip off the management of the observatory, perhaps they can arrange for the two of you to be alone.

If not, expect a little applause and some oohs and aahs when you pop the question!

Work-Related Proposal

Find an exciting and romantic way to perk up her work day by proposing while she’s on the job.

If she’s a teacher, get permission to propose to her over the school’s PA or video system. An architect? Write “Will you marry me?” on her ruler. A librarian?

Enlist the help of a co-worker to be sure she shelves some books that day, including one that includes your proposal on the front cover! If she works in an office at a computer, arrange to send her an email message that includes your proposal in large flashing letters.

Whichever way of asking her to marry you that you choose, arrange to be nearby when she says “yes”!
