Ideas for A Romantic Valentines Day

Creative Valentine Ideas

Looking for some unique or unusual romantic ideas this Valentines Day ?Romantic Dinner

Real life is rarely the stuff of romance novels .... but Valentine's Day is one day where romance is in the air and even the most unromantic couples get into the spirit of things.

Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays where expectations are high. Gift givers struggle to find just the right gift for the most important people in their life and the search can often be frustrating. Add to that the expense of purchasing the perfect presents and you have a holiday that can be more stressful than enjoyable.

Remember, Valentine’s Day is about the heart and the love you feel for one another. So, gifts that come from the heart are those that mean the most. And if you make them yourself, it shows the recipient that you took time out of your busy schedule to do more than just go to the store and choose an item from a shelf.

7 Creative Valentine Gifts You Can Make

You don’t necessarily need to be a great baker or a top-notch crafter to make a homemade Valentine present. Many of these projects can be quite simple. But if you’re stumped, enlist the help of a friend or your kids. The result will be worthwhile!

Here are a few ideas for some clever Valentine gifts you can make yourself:-

1.  Make a scrapbook

Scrapbooking is all the rage and it’s not tough to find all the supplies you need for this project at a fairly reasonable price.

Start by thinking of some memories you’d like to recall (first date, a memorable vacation, your wedding) and make a page for each.

You can buy colorful paper, stickers, lettering, and more for each themed page. Include copies of your favorite photos for each, if available. Present it to him/her after a romantic dinner and spend the night reminiscing about your life together. (This is not a last-minute gift; it requires some advance planning, so get an early start.)

2.  Love Coupons

This is a perennial favorite and might seem a little corny but it’s almost always a hit with the recipient.

Compile a booklet of about 20 coupons that offer a particular gift or service to the recipient.

They can be as simple as “1 backrub”, “1 movie night”, or even “1 car wash”, but you can also offer things like “1 night out with your friends” or “a weekend away together”. You can even place the coupons inside a new wallet or other small gift.

3.  Write a Book

Compile a small booklet of about a dozen pages for a short book entitled “10 Things I Love about You”.

Take time to write one attribute on each page and elaborate on it a bit. (You can type this or handwrite it.) When you finish, you can take your pages to an office supply store and have them bound and finished with a hard or soft cover.

Make a title page and a dedication page, too, and include an “about the author” section in the back. This isn’t hard to do but will be something he/she will treasure forever.

4.  Make a CD

If you and your loved one are music fans and like to listen to tunes wherever you go, make a mix of his/her favorite songs or a mix of the world’s best love songs.

This way, the recipient can listen to it at home or in the car (or download it onto his/her iPod) and think of you whenever it’s playing.

For an extra special touch, design an album cover on your computer, perhaps using a photo of the two of you, and place it in the jewel case with the CD.

5.  Make a Shadowbox

A shadowbox is a great way to display some of the memorabilia that mean so much to you and your spouse or girl/boyfriend.

You can purchase these boxes at most frame shops or craft stores or, if you’re handy, you can make one yourself. Find one that has a shelf or two inside so that you can place items at different levels.

Then find a few things that tell the story of your life together, like a champagne glass from your wedding, ticket stubs from a memorable night together, sea shells from your Hawaiian honeymoon, and all sorts of other small items.

6.  Daily Love Quotes

This one requires some time spent doing research and a little typing, so be sure to allow yourself enough time to finish.

Compile 365 sturdy cards (use colorful index cards or use vellum or card-stock paper and cut them into smaller pieces) and paste or write a famous or not-so-famous quote or poem about love on each one. This isn’t as hard as it seems.

Many websites offer hundreds of such quotes so you can just cut and paste them onto a document, print them on your printer, and apply them to the cards. (If you’re really ambitious and do calligraphy or have especially good penmanship, you can handwrite them!)

Place them in a small decorated box and instruct the recipient to read one each day.

7.  Food, Food, Food!

Good food never fails to reach someone’s heart!

Consider preparing a romantic picnic dinner you can enjoy at home in front of the fire, bake heart-shaped cookies and decorate them with red sprinkles, make homemade chocolate truffles and package them in an ornate box, or make him/her breakfast in bed.

There is a wealth of great food ideas that make perfect Valentine gifts and they’re much better than going out to a crowded restaurant!
