Boyfriend Christmas Gift Ideas

Looking for good present ideas for him this Christmas ?

Although girls love romantic gifts, guys are a different proposition and tend to prefer gadgets, boys toys and macho gifts.

Christmas Gift Ideas For A Man

Buying a Christmas gift for a man can be a challenge - if you don't want to opt for the usual socks or golf accessories.

The old adage proclaims that “Christmas is the season for giving” and, each year, gift-givers make long lists of items that they’d like to purchase for the ones they love. But in this era of tight budgets and a floundering economy, most shoppers are looking to save money on holiday gifts by purchasing inexpensive yet meaningful gifts for those who hold a special place in their heart.

Inexpensive Christmas Gift Ideas for a Boyfriend

If you’re in a relationship with a special guy, chances are you’ll want to buy a gift or two for that boyfriend.

What you choose, of course, may depend on how long you’ve been dating and just what your budget will sustain. It’s important to remember, however, that a gift doesn’t need to be expensive to touch his heart.

A little ingenuity and some extra thought can result in an inexpensive Christmas gift that he’ll long remember.

Choosing the Perfect Gift

If you’re stumped as to what to purchase for your boyfriend this year, consider a few factors before making your choice:-

What are his interests?

People love presents that pertain to their favorite activities, teams, or places.

Think about what your boyfriend enjoys doing and consider making a related purchase.

If he’s a sports fan, purchase a mug or cap with his favorite team’s logo or a subscription to a sports-related magazine.

A movie buff? How about a few movie tickets (under $20)? He’ll probably take you along with him!

A coffee fanatic? Consider a travel mug and a pound of his favorite beans.

Gift cards are okay as well, especially if they’re for something he might not otherwise splurge on.

What kind of personality does he possess?

Some guys are serious, others are funny. Some are quite masculine while others don’t mind getting in touch with their feminine side. Some are practical while others are more fly-by-the-seat of your pants.

So, plan your gifts accordingly. If he’s sentimental, you can probably get away with a teddy bear or other cute item that will remind him of you. If not, avoid the cutesy in favor of the decidedly manly.

For the macho man in your life, consider under $20 gifts like an all-in-one remote control, a nice set of headphones, a 12-function Swiss army knife, or something for his car or bike.

The local home improvement store also sells plenty of handy tools and other gadgets under $20 for the man who’s the masculine fix-it type.

Home-Made Gift Items

If items bought in a store don’t seem meaningful enough to give to your boyfriend, consider a hand-made item that includes your own special touch.

This can also be a great idea if you're on a budget, but have plenty of time to create a handmade present for him.

If you’ve been together for a long time, you probably have a lot of memories you’ve shared. Along with those memories, there may be photos, ticket stubs, theater programs, and other things related to those special times. Use them to put together a scrap book of times shared.

Scrapbooking is all the rage and craft stores have aisles upon aisles devoted to this art. You might even consider taking a free or low-cost scrapbooking class at one of those stores so you know how to proceed.

Are you a good cook? Then how about making cookies or candy and putting them in specialty tins or boxes that relate to something he likes – like a car-shaped tin for the NASCAR fan?  Be sure to make food containing ingredients he truly enjoys. Or give him a “coupon” for a meal of his choice, prepared by you and lovingly served by candlelight.

Do you enjoy knitting? Nothing says “love” in the winter better than a warm handmade scarf or a cozy ski cap that will keep his ears warm. If you’re not a knitter but know someone who is, ask your friend or family member if she’ll do the work for you for a small fee (you can choose and purchase the wool).

Personalized Gifts

Companies that offer monogrammed gifts often have a catalog full of items under $20 or so.

Choose items such as picture frames, key chains, beer steins, dog tags, jewelry, lighters, and flasks come in a variety of designs, and there’s sure to be one that’s perfect for the man in your life.

Be sure to order your choice in plenty of time to ensure delivery before Christmas.
